Total product sales grew to around $430 billion, but
some companies—including Bristol-Myers Squibb
and Lilly—lost patent coverage on their blockbusters,
had shrinking revenues, and slid a couple of points
each in the ranking. And Elan, which still made the
list with $1.1 billion in sales, actually lost $639 million
for the year and dropped from 37 to 46.
Others companies generated substantial growth,
including most Japanese manufacturers, which in the past few years
had struggled against a weak yen and shrinking government reimbursements.
Eisai and Fujisawa both made the list of the fastest growing
companies. Eisai jumped from 29 to 22, largely on the 80 percent
growth of its proton pump inhibitor。。。。。。
